Calile Culture, Australasian Dance Collective – Up Close and Personal

The Calile Hotel has a long history with Australasian Dance Collective (ADC), proudly supporting and collaborating over the past five years and we are proud to present an evening dedicated to celebrating creativity and collaboration via our Calile Culture event series.

If you have not been fortunate enough to see ADC perform, this is your chance to experience a unique one-night only, multi-media presentation of film, dance and discussion.

Join ADC as the company artists lead attendees through a catalogue of immersive short performances promenading through The Calile; experience a series of up-close boiler-room-style vignettes spanning the ADC repertoire from Aftermath, Still Life, Dull Boy, and Truth Beauty Suffering.

Following the intimate performance, ADC’s Artistic Director and CEO Amy Hollingsworth; ADC’s Associate Artistic Director Jack Lister; ADC’s Rehearsal Director & Artistic Advisor Gabrielle Nankivell; Musician, producer, composer Louis Frere-Harvey; and ADC Company Artists Harrison Elliott, Lilly King, Taiga Kita-Leong, Lily Potger, and Georgia Van Gils will discuss the collaborative process and the merging of artistic practises to create powerful artworks.

Collaboration is at the heart of ADC, it is borne in their very name, ‘the collective’.  A network of individuals and organisations that bring knowledge, depth and creativity to help propel ADC’s performances to exhilarating heights.

Collaborations bring out the best in us – when people are added to the mix, creative projects transform and can lead to unexpected places and solutions. Encouraging us to go far, to push the uncomfortable boundaries we place on ourselves, emboldened with the support of others.

You are invited to experience the ADC performances in close proximity, to feel the power of each, then to hear from the professionals about the creative and collaborative process that engenders the art.

In the lead up to this event, The Calile will host a projection of ADC’s evocative films from 6–10pm on Level 1 between Friday 19 to Tuesday 23 April.  Guests are invited to enjoy Still Life by Jack Lister created in collaboration with Ryan Renshaw of Kiosk Films and Liminal by choreographer, director and videographer Cass Mortimer Eipper.
