Conference and Events Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Conference & Events Operations Manager to lead the operational delivery of conferences, meetings and events across the hotel. This is a hands-on, service-driven role with a strong focus on Food & Beverage operations, event execution and team leadership.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Food & Beverage, the Conference & Events Operations Manager is responsible for the end-to-end operational planning and execution of all conferences, meetings, events and in-room dining at The Calile. Working closely with the Conference & Events Sales team and broader hotel departments, this role ensures every event is delivered seamlessly and to the highest standard.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the end-to-end operational planning and execution of conferences, meetings and events across the hotel.
Oversee all Food & Beverage service delivery for events, ensuring alignment with The Calile brand and service standards.
Partner closely with the Conference & Events Sales team to translate confirmed event briefs into high-quality operational delivery.
Manage event-related rostering and labour costs, ensuring effective workforce planning and adherence to budgetary guidelines.
Train, coach and develop a high-performing events operations team.
Maintain full compliance with food safety standards, WHS obligations and licensing requirements.
Liaise with kitchens, bars, AV teams and external suppliers to ensure smooth event flow and delivery.
Maintain clear communication before, during and after events to proactively resolve issues.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across event operations, service standards and the overall guest experience.
About You

Proven experience in Conference & Events Operations, Events Management or senior F&B operations within a premium hotel or high-volume venue.
Strong Food & Beverage knowledge, including banqueting, large-scale events and bespoke functions.
A natural leader who is highly visible on the floor and leads by example.
Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
Confident in managing multiple events and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Solutions-focused, calm under pressure and guest-centric in approach.
Flexible to work a rotating roster, including evenings and weekends.

The Position

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory role within a 5-star hotel environment

  • Knowledge of the correct food safety standards to ensure a high-quality F&B product is consistently being produced
  • A degree or diploma in Hotel or Hospitality Management (desirable)

About the Role

We are currently have a full-time opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced barista to make outstanding coffee for our guests.  With natural flair, and a passion to consistently deliver a delicious experience, you will share your knowledge and work with other team members in the art of ‘all things coffee’.

To be successful in the position the main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining excellent presentation standards that are in line with market trends
  • Preparing and presenting beautiful coffee and beverages efficiently and within a reasonable time frame
  • Maintaining all coffee equipment – ensuring it is cleaned regularly and the workspace is impeccably tidy
  • Working in conjunction with the Lobby Bar Food & Beverage team to ensure all needs for that outlet are being met (pitching in and lending a hand as needed)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiating contact with guests entering and departing the hotel.
  • Ensuing the driveway and entrance to the hotel is kept clean and tidy, always in a presentable state.

  • You have expert knowledge of Brisbane and James Street Precinct.
  • Performing valet parking duties as directed

You must have a current and valid open Australian driver’s license, be able to drive manual and automatic vehicles and be available to work a rotating 7-day roster with a mix of early and late shifts.

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Officer to join our hotel’s maintenance team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a hotel, commercial property, or apartment complex and will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the hotel to ensure a high standard of presentation and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Perform both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Carry out various maintenance duties, including carpentry, tiling, painting, plastering, plumbing, and general property repairs.
  • Complete scheduled weekly and monthly maintenance projects.
  • Ensure all work complies with local safety regulations and hotel standards.

About You

  • Trade qualification is preferred, particularly in carpentry or plumbing, though relevant hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional presentation with the ability to interact with guests when required.
  • Availability to work weekends on a rotating schedule.
  • Must be willing to undergo a police background check.

THE POSITION

Behind every seamless guest experience is a well-run operation. As our Stores Supervisor, you play a vital role in ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time, supporting our operational teams to perform at their best.

Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this full-time position is for someone who thrives on organisation, accuracy and takes pride in maintaining impeccable standards in a busy hotel environment. Key duties would include:

Oversee daily stores operations, including receiving, storage, stock rotation and issuing of goods
Maintain accurate inventory control, stock levels and par values across all departments
Ensure compliance with food safety, WHS and hotel brand standards at all times
Work closely with department leaders to support operational needs
Lead, train and support stores team members, fostering a culture of care and precision

Weddings Manager (12 Month Contract)

The Position

In this 12-month maternity leave contract, we’re looking for a talented Weddings Manager to shape and lead our weddings offering. You’ll take ownership of the entire journey, from the first client enquiry and detailed planning stages through to seamless delivery on the big day. Your role will also involve driving sales, managing the booking pipeline, and ensuring every couple has an exceptional experience.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and manage weddings from concept to completion, including timelines, styling, vendors, logistics and on-the-day coordination
Deliver an exceptional client experience, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the journey
Conduct sales consultations and convert leads into bookings
Manage and report on the weddings pipeline to maximise occupancy and revenue
Collaborate with marketing to promote the wedding offering and grow brand awareness
Oversee budgets, contracts, and vendor relationships
Lead and coordinate event staff on the day to ensure a seamless experience

About You

You’re no stranger to the industry with 3 years’ experience within the weddings sector or luxury hotels.
Highly organised and detail-oriented.
Able to provide examples of creating a positive guest experience.
Ability to collaborate and pivot within a team environment when required.
Must have availability to work within a 7-day roster.
Formal qualifications in Event Management or International Hotel Management desirable but not essential.
Prior knowledge of Opera Cloud is an advantage.

About the Role

The Calile Hotel has a great opportunity for an enthusiastic career-driven Senior Sous Chef to join our Conferences & Events and In-Room Dining Kitchen Brigade. Reporting to the Executive Chef this role is ideal for a confident culinary leader who thrives in fast-paced, large-scale operations and takes pride in delivering exceptional food and service.

You will have end-to-end responsibility for the Conference & Events kitchen and In-Room Dining service, ensuring consistent quality, efficiency, and presentation across all functions. You will play a key leadership role in menu execution, team development, and operational standards, working closely with the Executive Chef and key hotel departments.

Key responsibilities, but not limited to:

Lead the Conference, Events and In-Room Dining kitchen with a visible, hands-on leadership style, setting exemplary standards in culinary excellence, hygiene, and service presentation.
Deliver seamless end-to-end kitchen operations, ensuring consistent execution of menus across conferences, events, and IRD in line with brand and quality standards.
Mentor, develop, and inspire a high-performing kitchen brigade, fostering a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Champion food safety, HACCP compliance, and luxury hotel standards, ensuring all audits, documentation, and operational controls are meticulously maintained.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership, Events, Food & Beverage, and Guest Relations teams to anticipate guest needs and deliver refined, memorable experiences. Oversee stock control, ordering, and resource planning, supporting budget performance while minimising waste and maintaining operational excellence.

About You

Proven experience as a Senior Sous Chef or similar senior culinary leadership role, ideally within a hotel or high-volume events environment and managing a large brigade.
Exceptional leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
Strong operational focus, with the ability to manage multiple high-pressure events simultaneously.
Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of culinary excellence, hygiene, and professionalism.
HACCP trained with the ability to impart knowledge to junior chefs.
Full Australian working rights and able to work a rotating 7-day roster.
