Learning and Development Advisor

As our Learning & Development Advisor, you will have the opportunity to inspire, develop, and empower the team that makes these achievements possible.

The Role

Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, this role is responsible for the practical delivery and coordination of learning and development activities across the hotel. You will work closely with our leaders and team members to ensure training programs are implemented effectively, identify development needs, and support talent growth at every level.

This is an operational role and suited to someone who enjoys being actively involved with people, facilitating sessions, and supporting development in a luxury hospitality environment. It is not pitched at a senior level.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and deliver hands-on training sessions that enhance service excellence across the hotel.
  • Facilitate onboarding programs and ongoing skills development workshops.
  • Work closely with department leaders to identify and meet ongoing development needs.
  • Maintain and optimise learning systems and digital platforms.
  • Support performance and career development conversations across the hotel.
  • Promote a positive learning culture through visibility, engagement, and collaboration across departments.

What You Will Bring

  • Tertiary qualification in HR, Business, L&D or related discipline (coaching accreditation desirable).
  • Experience in learning and development, ideally within luxury hospitality.
  • Familiarity with digital learning tools or learning management systems.
  • Strong facilitation skills with the ability to engage and inspire.
  • A collaborative approach, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Leisure Manager

THE POSITION

The Calile is seeking an experienced Leisure Manager to join our team, reporting directly to the Guest Experience Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will lead the daily delivery of all leisure services, with a strong presence on the pool deck to ensure our guests receive anticipatory, warm, and effortless service at every touchpoint. With a hands-on approach, you will uphold The Calile’s elevated standards, ensuring every detail reflects our commitment to thoughtful hospitality and exceptional guest moments.

  • Operational Leadership & Team Support: Lead and work alongside a dedicated team, setting the tone for exceptional service, coaching in real time, and fostering a culture of pride, care, and continuous improvement.
  • Anticipatory Guest Service: Work closely with the Guest Relations team to personalise leisure moments, proactively anticipate guest needs, and respond promptly to feedback to enhance every stay.
  • Pool & Fitness Operations: Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, presentation, and efficiency across the pool and gym, ensuring facilities are always guest ready.
  • Resource & Cost Management: Support budget adherence and efficient use of resources while maintaining uncompromising quality of service and amenities.
  • Safety & Compliance: Consistently uphold health, safety, and compliance standards, ensuring a safe, calm, and welcoming environment for guests and team members always.

CORE SKILLS

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a luxury hotel, resort, or hospitality environment.
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement innovative leisure programs.
  • In-depth knowledge of contemporary fitness and recreational trends.
  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on guest-centric service.
  • Certification in lifeguarding, personal training, and/or first aid (highly desirable).

The Position

About You

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a supervisory role within a 5-star hotel environment
  • Experience supervising other team members on shift and training new team members
  • Ability to demonstrate food and beverage, coffee and wine knowledge
  • Knowledge of the correct food safety standards to ensure a high-quality F&B product is consistently being produced
  • A degree or diploma in Hotel or Hospitality Management (desirable)
  • Full availability over a 7-day roster is required.

About the Role

We are currently have a full-time opportunity for an enthusiastic, experienced barista to make outstanding coffee for our guests.  With natural flair, and a passion to consistently deliver a delicious experience, you will share your knowledge and work with other team members in the art of ‘all things coffee’.

To be successful in the position the main duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining excellent presentation standards that are in line with market trends
  • Preparing and presenting beautiful coffee and beverages efficiently and within a reasonable time frame
  • Maintaining all coffee equipment – ensuring it is cleaned regularly and the workspace is impeccably tidy
  • Working in conjunction with the Lobby Bar Food & Beverage team to ensure all needs for that outlet are being met (pitching in and lending a hand as needed)

THE POSITION

We seek a driven and motivated full-time Porter to join our Front Office team. You are the face of The Calile, and your presence and professionalism make you stand out from the crowd. You will be an enthusiastic, proactive, and driven team player, committed to ensuring our guests have an exemplary experience and delighting in assisting them in any way you can.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Initiating contact with guests entering and departing the hotel.
  • Ensuing the driveway and entrance to the hotel is kept clean and tidy, always in a presentable state.
  • Accommodating guest requests quickly and efficiently.
  • You have expert knowledge of Brisbane and James Street Precinct.
  • Performing valet parking duties as directed
  • Assisting guests with special requests, general information, transportation, event tickets, restaurant, airline reservations and any other reasonable requests as they arise

You must have a current and valid open Australian driver’s license, be able to drive manual and automatic vehicles and be available to work a rotating 7-day roster with a mix of early and late shifts.

Maintenance Officer

The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Officer to join our hotel’s maintenance team on a full-time basis. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in a hotel, commercial property, or apartment complex and will be responsible for the general upkeep and maintenance of the hotel to ensure a high standard of presentation and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain the presentation and cleanliness of guest rooms and public areas.
  • Perform both preventative and reactive maintenance tasks.
  • Carry out various maintenance duties, including carpentry, tiling, painting, plastering, plumbing, and general property repairs.
  • Complete scheduled weekly and monthly maintenance projects.
  • Ensure all work complies with local safety regulations and hotel standards.

About You

  • Trade qualification is preferred, particularly in carpentry or plumbing, though relevant hands-on experience will be considered.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Professional presentation with the ability to interact with guests when required.
  • Availability to work weekends on a rotating schedule.
  • Must be willing to undergo a police background check.

  • Food Production, Presentation and quality never slips below the standard – whether it be maintaining a clean and tidy workspace and equipment, or ensuring food handling and storage is as it needs to be.
  • You will ensure preparation of mise en place items for readiness of current and proceeding shift, as well as ensuring par levels of dry goods are maintained
  • Ensure all food produced is in line with kitchen recipes and standards, and prepare and cook with a sense of urgency, without compromising safety or quality.
  • Organise your assigned section/outlet and ensure it runs efficiently and productively and help out team mates as needed to ensure you all operate smoothly, like a well-oiled machine.
  • You will monitor and control food wastage (as well as portion size and food cost) and assist in stocktake if required.
  • Monitor and analyse guest feedback and ensure that value for money is maintained, at the same time exceeding guest’s expectations.
  • Champion the right behaviour, attitude and outlook to ensure the rest of the team know they can rely on you, and follow your lead.
  • Communication is key, so if there are any issues in the kitchen, or within the team (or other teams or stakeholders) you make sure the Head Chef is aware of any matters arising.

Base salary  between $73,000.00 to $78,000.00 per annum excluding superannuation.
