There’s no rulebook, but there is a rhythm, and it goes something like this.
The Slow Start
Everyone has their own definition of a sleep-in, but the best kind is waking up with nowhere you need to be.
A few make it to the Gymnasium. Some have booked a session with Caren, the in-house trainer. Others settle into their balcony with coffee and morning sun, and that becomes the only plan they need.
Breakfast, Eventually
When hunger arrives, most people make their way to Hellenika’s poolside restaurant. Breakfast runs through the morning, so there’s time enough to sit under the umbrellas with the paper, make plans for the day, or abandon them. Others swim first and have brunch delivered to their sunlounge.
Into the Neighbourhood
It’s hard to resist the leafy laneways of James Street, and most guests don’t try. What surprises people is how much sits just beyond the lobby: restaurants, galleries, boutiques, and spots where you can lose an hour or two. There are plenty of cafes to duck into, either for a break or to admire the new additions from Venroy or The New Trend. The Calile Car often gets booked when something further afield calls.
Golden Hour at Lobby Bar
Alfresco seating, aperitifs, and plates to share, with a front-row view of the neighbourhood. Guests who made dinner plans elsewhere often find themselves still here hours later. They don’t seem to mind.
Dinner
Bianca for simple, classic Italian, sAme sAme for a little more heat, or Sushi Room if handing the decision making over to someone else sounds appealing. Guests are seated at the counter with a glass of Charles Heidsieck, and the chef takes it from there. Up to 20 courses, seasonal and incredibly fresh.
Sunday Is For Sunshine
Early-risers find a swim in the pool before anyone else arrives is a simple pleasure. Once the DJ starts and poolside service is in full swing, most people settle in for the day. There’s time to read, time to talk to whoever’s on the next sunlounge, and plenty of time to drift between a spritz and a siesta.
Level Seven
Some guests will make the pilgrimage to the rooftop on level seven. It isn’t publicly accessible, which means someone from the team will take you up, and they’re always happy to. There are beehives, gardens, and panoramic city views to admire. Those who make the trip look rather pleased when they come back down.
